What Is Viral Marketing

What Is Viral Marketing

Many people may have heard the term ?viral? associated with different styles of marketing and wonder what some of them are, but specifically what is viral marketing? Well, the simple answer to the question is that this type of product promotion is a form of advertising, which deals mainly with the infiltration of the Internet, with advertisements, logos, and critical product placement in a manner that will most easily entice people to buy their products.

The idea behind viral marketing is that if you can get the product up in multiple places on the web and in front of as many eyes as possible for as little money as possible, you are doing some really good marketing on a budget. Most of the companies behind this style of promotion are smaller businesses that just want to get the word out about their product but don?t have the money to hire a public relations firm or spend money on advertising.

One of the more effective methods of viral marketing is to form a Joint Venture with another business. While you have the product, your JV partner may bring his customer content list of thousands and his marketing skills to the project. In most cases a JV will benefit both parties involved with an equal split of the profits and possibly the work.

Another form of getting your product, to race around the internet world, is to set up an affiliate program with 100s of individuals and business promoting your product. The difference between a JV and an affiliate, is the affiliate will only get paid a percentage of each individual sale personally made by them.

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty of what is viral marketing, then you should realize that it is something anyone with a computer and a little bit of technological savvy can do. First of all, using social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace is a fairly ingenious way of getting your product or service out to the public. You can set up a site, get all of the relevant information listed on your homepage, and then add friends.

Theoretically, just adding whoever to your profile isn?t going to do you any good as they are likely looking to connect with friends and won?t be interested in your product. The best way to market yourself is to look through the MySpace groups and find those with similar interests. Say that you are a writer marketing a new book. Adding other writers isn?t going to get you a whole lot of customers, but adding people who are fans of your genre, well, that?s a different story.

Some viral marketing ideas include sending out chain letters with information about your product buried within a story that urges people to continue resending the letter to all of their friends. This is a decent idea, but if you use the chain letter to try and collect money for something that doesn?t exist or run a scam for a business, then that is fraud and is a crime. You have to be careful and make sure that you aren?t breaking any laws.

Now that you have an answer to the question of what is viral marketing, you should also know that using viral marketing plans too much can cause some problems. If people feel they are being slammed by the product, then you are going to find many of your potential clients turned off by your aggressiveness.

Just remember that you?re trying to get the word out and tell people about your idea without being too pushy and you should be just fine.

Discover The Advantages Using A Search Engine Optimization Specialists

A search engine optimization specialist is someone who knows how Internet search engines work. They use that information to make your site more noticeable by the millions of Internet users who may be searching for what you have to offer. The specialist is trained in making your site more search engine friendly without ruining the context or purpose of your site. While the techniques they use may seem simple, they are time consuming when done right, and you can count on search engine optimization specialist to do the job right.

Inexperienced people may know the techniques that search engine professionals will use, but when the techniques are used the wrong way they can cause irreparable damage to your site. Search engines filter sites for various things, and they can either place a site at the top of what they’ve found or skip over it all together depending on what your site contains.

For example, search engines like Google look for matching keywords to what the seeker has stated they’re looking for. However, if the SEs? finds an overabundance of matching phrases your site may be skipped over. Sites cluttered with the same keywords are not attractive to anyone, not even search engines and if they see it enough times on your site you may even be banned by them.

That’s not to say that keywords aren’t useful when a search engine optimization specialist who knows what they?re doing uses them properly. Every search engine is looking for a certain percentage for the match to what the user is looking for and the closer the percentage of the keywords on your site’s text matches the search engine’s percentage, the higher you’ll be on their list. Other factors go into where you’ll stand in the results but as long as they’re taken into account on your site, the keyword placement will help put your site in an optimal position.

Your SE professional might suggest using link building, which would put your site in directory sites and increase the amount of people who view your web page. Search engines love websites that people already go to a lot, so having more people view your page leads to even more people being directed there. If there are other sites that relate to yours without competing for business, a specialist can find appropriate places for your links that people in the market for your product are more likely to see. No advertising will go to waste when you put a good search engine optimization specialist on the job.

Every website is different so the techniques used on your website might differ from ones on other websites, but they will still be able to max out your place on the search results. Be sure to know what it is you’re looking for from SEO and who your target audience is for your product. Once the information is in their hands, the search engine optimization specialist, you?ve entrusted your site to, will take all the necessary steps to increase your site’s traffic.

The Truth About The History Of E Commerce

The Truth About The History Of E Commerce

You might not realize it, but the history of e commerce started before the first Internet connection. Things started happening in the 1960s, over 40 years ago, that were crucial steps along the way bringing us to the level of e commerce we have today.

First, the EDI was developed in the 60s. EDI means Electronic Data Interchange. This is a set of standards for electronic transactions and the exchange of business information. Even with this development, many companies still couldn’t do business electronically with each other because there were different EDI formats. But in 1984, one EDI, the ASC X12, became the standard for transferring large amounts of transactions, and was adapted quickly by those institutions who wanted to do business electronically.

Eight years later in 1992, the first point and click web browser was developed, called Mosaic. Then the first downloadable browser, Netscape, was developed based on Mosaic, and this gave people with Internet access the ability to participate in electronic commerce. This was really the first step in the history of e commerce that lead to the widespread e commerce usage we see today.

DSL or high-speed Internet let more users take advantage of e commerce with more convenience, with the holiday season of 1998 setting a record of the most e commerce sales until that point. Online sales for AOL during that 10-week Christmas season topped 1 billion.

Red Hat Linux was developed, giving computer users a choice. No longer was Windows the only option, consumers could opt for reliable and open-sourced Linux, instead. Now that there was competition, Windows began expanding its ability to handle e commerce.

Napster was founded in 1999, and even though it started out as a way for users to share music files for free, its development was an important step in the history of e commerce. As it became more and more popular, consumers had a say in what they hoped to get from such a site, and e commerce and the entire industry, in general. Then, in 2000, AOL and Time Warner merged, combining a completely online company with an old and established traditional company. By then, Yahoo, eBay and Amazon.com were popular sites, their names synonymous with Internet use and e commerce. Hackers attached each of these sites in 2000, demonstrating the need for higher Internet security, particularly where e commerce was concerned. In the history of e commerce, this started the push for secure ordering and more secure browser interfaces.

Traditional companies started adapting for e commerce, and now almost every major retail player has an online presence where it’s easy and convenient to order electronically, like Sears, Wal-Mart and Borders bookstores. In 2001, business-to-business transactions alone accounted for %700 billion dollars changing hands.

With more people discovering the convenience of shopping from home than ever, it’s clear that the history of e commerce isn’t a closed book, but will continue to change as online shopping becomes more and more popular.
