I think that a lot of people focus on marketing prematurely. It’s best to make sure you have a solid blog before attracting a bunch of unimpressed readers.

I really don’t think that online marketing is as easy as you say it is. Exchanging links and rss directories is not enough. You have to do a lot more than this. But on the other hand it’s the amount of traffic you want to achieve. Maybe tips you’ve listed is really enough for a starter.

I think it’s easier said than done. Unless you really like what you’re doing, I say making money online via marketing, seo, etc.. is hard.

You’re certainly right about blogs being indexed quickly by the search engines and being a great ‘tool’ for getting your message out on the Internet.

However, you’re almost better not starting a blog unless you’re confident you can fulfill the needs of future readers. You need to be able to write or pay someone to do it for you.

You ned to be very committted to it before starting. You need to be able to post frequently and supply content people will want to read (ahem… like your goodself .

I’m also considering using a specialized copywriting softwared called Glyphius. Has anyone had any experience with this? It is supposed to use statistical analysis to optimize the wording of your advertising copy. I’d be interested in hearing any feedback, good or bad. Thanks

After reading a few articles including this one i decided to start my own blog. You are 100% correct about google indexing your blog quickly. Also don’t know whether this is just blogs but i posted a new article the other day and that article was indexed by google in 5 mins. Awesome.

Hmmm…I don’t know about that. The problem is, since blogs, like you said, are so easy to start, there’s a sea of them out there and it’s so easy to get lost in it.

I think the one of the best things that you can do is submit your articles to article submission sites. Worked for me, this is a great way to start your online presence.

Blogging has become my #1 marketing tool…I took me a little while to get out Google’s sandbox, but once I surpassed the growing pain, I have been able to grow rather quickly…Great post

Would you dedicate a blog to John or to Ringo? John means more impacts from search engines, Ringo means a niche with probably more loyalty, who knows, probably 1000 true fans.

Setting up a Blog is simple. It is actually quite hard to get enough readers to make a lot off money. Getting links and interesting content is indeed your biggest challenge. After that converting your visitors in money is also quite the challenge.

Good job, very informative. Blog marketing is definitely not difficult to do, however, we must remember that you should market on relevant blogs in order to obtain the clients that will be profitable to you business.

I’m pretty new to this as well, but I read that there is copywriting software called CopyOracle that helps you to make profitable ads. If you are planning to do internet marketing, blogging, etc or any kind of online business, maybe this would come in handy.

Google loves sucking dry RSS feeds for WP blogs, I noticed they get listed pretty fast. Unique keyword rich content will attract search engines, you have to know how to write

How effectively can a student market his blog/website?
Well not too much!

I’d like to improve and increase my readership but I don’t have the time to do it!
Also self-marketing is not my forte.

Another thing that’s not helping me is that I write about whatever I please (web, photography, photoshop, twitter, vfx, music) not helping me establish a niche.
I considered splitting them up into several blogs but this would take even more time to maintain and update!

I know this article was written well over a year ago, but it still holds true. Blog marketing is still as strong as ever. Most people try to spam blogs, so to the legitimate marketeer, it seems like a lost cause.

However, if you post a real, relevant comment, and also include a link to your site (which I will do at the bottom of this comment) it can still draw the attention of readers.
