You are absolutely correct, if a your site’s design looks like all the rest of them out there it will suffer. People will assume the site looks like the rest, and the content must be like the rest also. It is very important to stand out, and design is the best place to start.

I agree with a lot these points. One thing that is crucial in effective blog marketing, and I will be honest, this is where I fail, is to keep your blog updated regularly.

Search engines crave… no.. they demand fresh content offered up on a regular basis.

Here’s a tip for those like me, who no matter how hard they try cannot bring themselves to update a blog regularly. (I think I have flashbacks to 1st grade when my teacher forced me to keep a journal)

Instead of blogging, try writing articles. A well written article provides a benefit to both you and the person reading it. (Just like a blog) But it requires less updating. I guess you could argue that blogging and writing articles are maybe the same thing, but for someone who suffers blog burnout, let me say that I can write atleast a half dozen solid articles in a week… when it comes to maintaing a blog… I’m hopeless.

If you really want to succeed, do both.

my experience about blog marketing is that it works. and it needs constant updating to rank your site to search engines.
